Balloon Arch Building Guide for 2026
Supplies
- Balloon decorating strip (plastic tape with holes, $5 for 16 feet)
- 150-200 latex balloons in 3-4 sizes (5 inch, 11 inch, 18 inch, and 36 inch)
- Balloon pump (electric recommended for 150+ balloons)
- Glue dots for attaching small balloons to fill gaps
- Command hooks or removable tape for mounting
Color Palette Strategy
Choose 3-4 colors in varying saturation. Example: chrome gold, blush pink, white, and sage green. Buy 20% more than you think you need โ some will pop.
Inflation
Inflate balloons to different sizes for visual depth. Do not inflate more than 2 hours before assembly โ latex deflates overnight.
Assembly
Thread balloon knots through the strip holes, alternating colors and sizes. Every 4-5 balloons, twist a small balloon into a gap to create clusters and hide the strip.
Mounting
Attach the strip to the wall using Command hooks spaced every 2 feet. For a free-standing arch, anchor to a PVC pipe frame. The arch should curve naturally.
Finishing Touches
Use glue dots to attach small balloons in any visible gaps. Tuck faux eucalyptus or flowers into the strip for texture. Add a ribbon banner as a focal point.
